I want my portraits to be powerful and visually arresting.  There is a raw, human quality to master portraiture that I intend to capture and transmit to the viewer.  Painting a portrait that is truly lifelike is exhilaratingly difficult and challenging.  I strive for an authenticity that reinforces the relevance of painting in a modern world; creating an image that feels truly alive and transcends the photo is my ultimate goal.  I typically employ straightforward compositions that are tightly cropped in on the head to make a very confrontational and noticeable image.
